Sports Program in Uganda
In Uganda, like in any other parts of the world, it is considered that Sports training is vital and fundamental for the development of children’s aptitudes, which is why in this program the volunteer will have the opportunity to help with his skills in teaching and practice of sports. This experience will help the volunteer to experience a very dynamic life with the children of Uganda, as well and getting to know the,, bring them joy, a good distraction and promote their sport’s spirits to lead to their discovery of talents and skills.

Purpose
The purpose of this program is that you, as a volunteer, support with your abilities for the development of a sports culture in the children in Uganda with the objective to awaken their interest in the practice of a sport. This will improve their skills and contribute in the formation of a daily exercise which is important for good health. Through this experience you can generate millions of smiles and help them with their growth and personal development.
Change
Providing happiness, developing skills, and aptitudes in this children through sports is generating change in the Ugandan Society. It’s because of this that the work from the volunteer poses as an essential part of this change. The personal satisfaction that you will receive from helping and collaborating with the children will also make a huge difference. An aid for this children is also an aid for the change in society.
Action
For this Volunteer program you should come with ideas to develop activities that you wish to apply and share with the children of Uganda. Apart from combining tou sports abilities to teach and practice sports like: volleyball, Basketbaal, and soccer, which can be organized in schools or in communities, the volunteer should incentivize teamwork and develop a healthy sportsmanship. Where children will be able to share with others the fundamental values for union as a society through their experience with sports.

Fort Portal has the name of a British commissioner,Sir Gerald Portal. A statue to commemorate Sir Gerald Portal is located in the main avenue of the city. The city is located at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. It has a population of 54,2475 (2014). THe city is going through changes to make it Uganda's touristic capital by 2040. Furthermore, alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, textiles, furniture, paper, soap, sweets, shoes and metal objects are manufactured in this city. Fort Portal is a mainly catholic city which is why you can find 19 parishes that belong to the Mbarara archdiocese that answers directly to the Vatican.
Fort Portal is a very important city for the tourism that arrives to the nearby National Reserve parks like: Virunga National Park, Queen Isabel National Park and Lake Mburo National Park. it is also important for the market of the region by providing products like: cotton, peanuts, sesame, corn, tobacco, oil seeds, coffee, tea, tropical fruits, several types of vegetables, leather, dairy products, meat, grains.

Highlights
The Volunteer will have the opportunity to establish a social bond with the children through Sports. Helping them with your skills and discovering their individual talents in each of the kids that don’t get the chance or haven’t been able to show what they are capable of. Furthermore you will learn about the environment in Uganda that surrounds the children, their location, the people, and their culture.

Accomodation
The accommodation is the volunteer house, which offers comfortable rooms, in addition to the basic services to make your stay a pleasant one. The house has a person who’s available to clean and organize the house. However, each volunteer is responsible for maintaining their sleeping area in good order and cleanliness, as well as the maintenance and cleanliness of the other areas of the house.
Meals
We have all the necessities to offer volunteers a delicious and varied food menu. For breakfast we serve: eggs, bread, butter, jams; at lunch, there is a combination of fresh and delicious local and western food; for dinner there is a varied food menu with rice, puree, spaghetti with meatballs, macaroni. If the volunteer wants to eat outside the house, there are near restaurants and cafes. It should be noted that if the volunteer have a special diet, please communicate us in order to design a different food menu.
