Why EVF?
EVF means action, support, development, strengthening, education, entrepreneurship, change and transformation for the communities and their environment.
Volunteer Action
The development of the countries lies in the voluntary commitment of its citizens to work for the benefit of their society. The main difference between a developing country compared to a first world nation focuses on its human capital, each year are born bright change initiatives that aim to strengthen communities, but in the same way these same initiatives close their doors, cutting off the wings of transformation and strengthening of their societies such as education, best community practices, economic improvement for the people of the most vulnerable sectors, health, hygiene, environmental solutions, preservation of habitat among others.
The volunteer action becomes the most valuable resource to prevent the closure of several social and environmental projects that help to reduce the level of poverty. According to the World Bank until 2011, 1.011 million people in the world, living with an income below $1.25 daily, this problem can be reduced significantly with the help of volunteers building sustainable projects that allow a better redistribution of wealth in areas such as conservation, community development, education and work with children.
Women
Only in the Ecuador the incidence of poverty in the women for the year 2013 is 26.3% according to National Plan of Well Being, and 54.3 % of women older than 15 years contributing to the labor force in their own homes, thus becoming primary source for the economic stability of their families, this reason that through the EVF volunteer programs we help to strengthen the gender equality in the communities where we intervine, promoting the empowerment of women not only on human rights but also as the way to achieve the Millennium development goals and sustainable development.
Children
In the Ecuador 5.4% of children of elementary education abandon their studies. While 6.8% of abandonment, reflected in high school students. This must be added the low level of English in the educational system, placing the Ecuador ranked 48 among 60 countries around the world. In EVF our volunteers are the solution for improving the quality of the nursery and elementary education in the rural and urban places supporting teachers in the academic growth.
Nature
The Ecuador as most mega diverse world country, unfortunately has become the main source for the traffic of species, at the global level. According to the Environmental Police, only in a year has been rescued by 1,542 wild animals, of which 867 species were unable to recover in their habitats from January to May of 2014. Similarly happens with flora, according to figures from the Ministry of the environment, the national deforestation rate is 65.880 hectares per year, taking only a total of 167,000 hectares planted in the whole country. In EVF we are aware that the Habitat needs of the care of all of us, therefore, our volunteers are part of these figures of change, helping in the preservation of the environment.
