Elephant Program

The Indian elephants are animals in danger of extinction. For this reason, it is important to maintain the sanctuaries that are located in Jaipur-India, to conserve these animals that are victims of hunters or forced labor. The volunteer will develop a kind relationship with these animals which includes feeding, bathing them and carrying out certain activities in the field to ensure the welfare and conservation of elephants.

Volunteer Programs

Purpose

India is characterized by the respect that its population has towards the animals; elephants are one of them. These animals are very respected and have become the iconic animal in India. About 20% are domestic and are used as a means of transportation by which their care is an essential part for the survival of the species. With our program of elephant care, you will be able to help the preservation and support in the tasks of caring for these animals.

Change

The support that we provide for the conservation of elephants is vital since it is a species that is in danger of extinction. Our volunteers undertake the tasks of elephant care generating awareness from the moment they are involved in the program. In addition, they will have the opportunity to learn the importance of caring for these animals from instructors and understanding the respect for living beings.

Action

Throughout your participation you can learn and understand more about the close relationship that the people of India and the elephants have. You can do this through the tasks of care performed like the feeding and bathing of the elephants. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the habits that elephants have as well as their interaction with their natural habitat.

A Day as a Volunteer

Accomodation

Volunteering in the India program gives you the opportunity of living in a volunteer house where you can share good times with people from other countries while you are performing this experience. The House has dormitories and accomodation system organized by gender. The residence is located in a closed complex which guarantees the safety of our volunteers for their participation. The house has a bathroom, kitchen where they serve food, a living room and a terrace which is the ideal place to relax. We also offer Internet service so that you can be connected with your friends and family, but you must take into account that the system of connection is not of high speed. We recommend to always keep the volunteer house facilities in perfect condition, so write them down as part of your daily tasks.
 

Meals

The program includes food during the entire period of participation. You will have access to 3 traditional meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Volunteers will gather in the main dining room of the House for breakfast, while lunch and dinner are made by a family member of our local coordinator. Generally, the Indian food is vegetarian but the volunteers will have days when they can eat chicken.
