Wildlife Rescue Center in the Amazon
Directly, volunteers have the opportunity to work with wild animals some of which are endangered species in the jungles of Ecuador. In addition, you can discover, learn and live close to the Amazonian culture and ethnic groups. The project is located in an area surrounded by indigenous communities. Therefore, you can experience an unimaginable adventure with exotic animals that only few people have the opportunity to see.

Purpose
The Amazon rainforest has become a distinguishing factor for Ecuador labeling it as one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. Unfortunately, the natural wealth of the Amazon rainforest is the perfect resource for those who are engaged in indiscriminate traffic of animals and plants. Each year, thousands of animal species are taken from their habitat to sell on the black market as pets. Often people hunt these animals to adorn private collections or simply to commercialize their skins, tusks and bones. Our animal rescue program gives you the opportunity to create awareness and stop these illegal activities.
Change
Volunteers are crucial for the rehabilitation of these animals, which are the source of life for our rescue Center, easily through your participation you can identify the different species of animals and learn more about their origin, living conditions and behavior, which will help you to promote an awareness of preservation.
Action
Every day is an adventure in our animal rescue center; you will work very close to different animals and plant species, you will play with them and you will be responsible for the care of their health and welfare. Jaguars, pumas, birds and different species of monkeys will be waiting for you because you will be the responsible to help them in gathering their food, prepare their diet food, clean, construct their cages, and administer medication.

This province concentrates a large number of endangered species that serve as research for many scientists. Its biodiversity is so big, almost the 90% of the territory preserves primary forest, that you can have an encounter with exotic species.

Volunteers have the chance to work with exotic animals in danger of extinction, which are in the Amazon rainforest. All of this couple with the experience of adventure in the jungle and with the possibility of protecting habitat survival and wildlife by doing something that only few people can do.
A Day as a Volunteer

Accomodation
The project is located one hour from the Puyo city. It has a volunteer house with capacity for 20 people which construction was made by wood. The rooms are basic shared rooms, each one have capacity for four people, have single beds, blankets and mosquito nets in good condition, however we encourage volunteers to bring a sleeping bag for warm weather. Volunteers do the cleaning room generally, everyone is responsible to fix and maintain your space in perfect condition. Additionally, it is important to mention that the volunteer house has no electricity service, the bathrooms are equipped with toilet, sink and shower with warm water. The excreta disposal system is through septic tanks. There is no laundry service, so volunteers can wash their clothes in the place of the project or take it to a laundry service in Puyo city.
Meals
Food is included during the participation period and volunteers gather in the communal dining room to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. The project has a kitchen and volunteers prepare their own food. Cooking schedules, cooking activities, cleaning the kitchen and dining area are distributed. Frequently, there are some vegetarians, so to avoid disappointment; All the participants make the shopping list one time per week and in this way needs and likes of each one can be satisfied. If any volunteer requires specific things such as drinks and snacks, we recommend that you purchase separately.
