Why is it important to be part of this TEEN CAMP in Galapagos?

Because here your action has a real purpose. In this Galapagos summer camp, you’ll help control some of the 700 invasive plants that put the habitat of species like giant tortoises at risk, clean beaches to protect marine life, and be an active part of the conservation of this unique ecosystem. Each activity is also an opportunity to grow, make decisions with impact, develop a leadership attitude and commit to something bigger: your own future.

Program Details

Location

Welcome to San Cristobal, the gateway to the Galapagos Islands and the perfect setting for our summer teen camp. Surrounded by turquoise waters and volcanic landscapes, this island is home to a biodiversity that is unique in the world: sea lions that rest on the coast, giant tortoises, endemic birds and trails that take you to pristine beaches such as Punta Carola or viewpoints such as Cerro Tijeretas.

Here you not only connect with nature, you live it intensely. Every corner of San Cristobal inspires you to explore, learn, and leave your positive mark in an environment that seems to be taken from another planet.

Accommodation and Food

During the Galapagos Teen Camp, you will stay in one of our two local-style volunteer houses—one for boys and one for girls—located in the upper part of San Cristobal, within a protected area with a spectacular view of the island. Each house has shared rooms for 4 to 5 people, equipped with beds, sheets, pillows and bedspreads, plus a bath and shower inside each room, shared between the roommates.

Meals are served three times a day and include simple but nutritious options based on local cuisine: combinations of carbohydrates, proteins, vegetables and fruits. Purified water is always available and we also offer vegetarian alternatives. We understand that you may have dietary preferences or restrictions, but it is important to remember that on remote islands such as Galapagos, access to certain products is limited, therefore meals may differ a bit from what you are used to at home. Still, the experience of living like an islander is part of the adventure!

Communication

In this Galapagos teenager’s camp, we value both the connection to home and total immersion in the experience. That’s why we maintain daily communication with parents or legal guardians through a hotline with our coordinators, who share updates on student well-being, anecdotes of the day, and highlights of the activities.

For participants, we encourage a conscious use of mobile devices, limiting their use during daily program activities so that they can make the most of every moment, connect with nature, their companions and themselves. Thus, we guarantee an authentic, safe experience focused on personal growth, without losing the link with their families.

Safety

The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority at Galapagos teenagers camp. For this reason, we implemented a 24/7 monitoring system with one coordinator for every 10 participants, guaranteeing close and personalized accompaniment at all times. Our team is made up of experienced staff, certified in CPR and first aid, as well as coaches specialized in youth leadership and local coordinators who know every corner of the island and its conservation protocols.

From the first day, students receive a detailed safety orientation talk, where both personal care and respect for the environment are addressed. All activities, including snorkeling, are led by qualified tour guides. We also have an active emergency plan in case of any eventuality. We encourage respect for wildlife, the environment and local customs as an essential part of learning. In the Galapagos Islands, every adventure is lived with awareness, responsibility and support.

FAQ

Yes, most of them travel in a group from Quito with a member of staff who accompanies them throughout the journey. However, if any student takes a different flight for personal or logistical reasons, our team will be in touch to guide the process and will meet them directly at the San Cristobal airport. They will never be alone!

Of course. Weeks before the camp, we held a virtual talk with all the registrants and their families. In it, we share itinerary details, luggage suggestions, health recommendations and answer all your questions. We want each participant to travel with clarity, safety and excitement for what is to come.

We have a highly trained team that includes coordinators with first aid training, leadership coaches and local naturalist guides. Each group of 10 students has an assigned coordinator, which allows constant and personalized accompaniment throughout the experience.

Yes. All water activities, such as beach visits and snorkeling, are done under strict supervision. Certified tour guides and camp staff participate to ensure the safety of the children while they enjoy the Galapagos Sea.

Although we promote a digital disconnection so that they live the experience to the fullest, we maintain an active line of contact between coordinators and families. On a daily basis, we share updates, photos and anecdotes so that they know how their children are doing and what they are experiencing in the camp

Coordinators are housed in the same volunteer houses as students, but in separate rooms. This closeness allows us to maintain constant supervision and respond quickly to any situation, without interfering with the group’s personal spaces.
