Volunteer Orphanage work in Uganda, Africa

Serving as a volunteer in Uganda through the orphanage program will help you live a great experience, at the same time being able to help many orphaned children who are in need of care, teaching and support from people who can give them love and affection. Normally the children lack of this attendance and conditions because they don’t have families who can provide them with these needs. You can collaborate by making these children happy and help them in what actually they need.

Volunteer Programs

Purpose

Niños en Uganda con nuestros voluntarios

This volunteer program aims to improve the quality of life of the orphan children in Uganda. The purposes is to support the staff of the orphanage in all the activities involving the care of children, and generate and added value of the volunteer in tasks that could raise the welfare of these orphans and thus contribute to the improvement of their stay at the orphanage.

Action

Engage as much time as possible with the orphan children in Uganda, who are aged between newborn to six years old. You will form part of a team who is conducted by the staff of the orphanage, and you will assist in all type of tasks, care and activities; as well as working together with them all time. Bring the best desire to help and give your best attitude.

Fort Portal has the name of a British commissioner,Sir Gerald Portal. A statue to commemorate Sir Gerald Portal is located in the main avenue of the city. The city is located at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. It has a population of 54,2475 (2014). THe city is going through changes to make it Uganda's touristic capital by 2040. Furthermore, alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, textiles, furniture, paper, soap, sweets, shoes and metal objects are manufactured in this city. Fort Portal is a mainly catholic city which is why you can find 19 parishes that belong to the Mbarara archdiocese that answers directly to the Vatican.  

Fort Portal is a very important city for the tourism that arrives to the nearby National Reserve parks like: Virunga National Park, Queen Isabel National Park and Lake Mburo National Park. it is also important for the market of the region by providing products like: cotton, peanuts, sesame, corn, tobacco, oil seeds, coffee, tea, tropical fruits, several types of vegetables, leather, dairy products, meat, grains.

Creating a link with these orphan children is the most important thing, also attend them, share and teach them new things. This will create a change in their lives as well as yours by the satisfaction of given support, given your contribution as a volunteer. We invite you to become a part of this change, fell the experience and live it, and afterwards share it; in addition to know part of this wonderful country, Uganda, full of beautiful landscapes, culture and people.

 

A Day as a Volunteer

Accomodation

The accommodation is the volunteer house, which offers comfortable rooms, in addition to the basic services to make your stay a pleasant one. The house has a person who’s available to clean and organize the house. However, each volunteer is responsible for maintaining their sleeping area in good order and cleanliness, as well as the maintenance and cleanliness of the other areas of the house.
 

Meals

We have all the necessities to offer volunteers a delicious and varied food menu. For breakfast we serve: eggs, bread, butter, jams; at lunch, there is a combination of fresh and delicious local and western food; for dinner there is a varied food menu with rice, puree, spaghetti with meatballs, macaroni. If the volunteer wants to eat outside the house, there are near restaurants and cafes. It should be noted that if the volunteer have a special diet, please communicate us in order to design a different food menu.

Monkeys in Nkuruba Reserve

Excursion to Nkuruba Reserve

Enjoy 1 day excrusion in Nkuruba or “Monkey Place”, a nature reserve close to Kibale Forest, and its consist of a beautiful volcanic crater lake surrounded by forest, where you can have the chance to observe several troops of Black & White Colobus, Red Colobus and Vervet monkeys while you are hiking through the forest trails.
