Purpose

Volunteering in Galapagos

The Galapagos Islands are considered as one of the natural treasures that humanity has, many of the efforts focus on the conservation and preservation of native animals and plants of this area. However, another treasure with great value that keep these islands are the children who represent the future of new generations who will have the mission to continue preserving this habitat. Therefore the purpose of our volunteer program is to help in the strengthening of early education of children by guiding them to live integrated with their environment and developing new tools that can contribute to the equilibrium of the Galapagos society.

Change

School and Daycare Center in Galapagos Islands

Working with children from an early age ensures that their education will fulfill the academic objectives. Whenever we have volunteers working in schools with children in initial stage, feeling the satisfaction of having planted hope in the lives of these little children is one of the most significant experiences. As a volunteer you help them to interact with different cultures and people, you will provide personalized attention, care and affection, which is fundamental to achieve new training standards in Galapagos schools. Actions like these create huge differences in the development of education and in the children knowledge, which make them to gain more self-esteem and new understanding abilities.

Action

Galapagos children

Time, love and affection that volunteers provide children, help their emotional development. The workday begins early in the morning and it is always attending by local teachers who focus on tasks designed in the action plan. You will always have something to do and you will never feel lonely or bored, contrary you should keep all your energy to go at the same rhythm of children and at the same time, your heart will be full of smiles and hugs. This is your great opportunity to share with kids, play games, help feed and teach them to understand the natural wealth that they have in the Galapagos Islands. Thus, supporting in learning and building a society with balanced integration will be the principal contribution that you will do as a volunteer.

Location

Santa Cristobal , Galapagos

San Cristobal is the fifth largest island of the Galapagos and it is home to the oldest permanent settlement of the islands and is where Darwin first went ashore in 1835. There are approximately 5,400 residents, making it home to the second largest human population in Galapagos.

The charm of these volcanic islands led the UNESCO to designate it as a Natural Patrimony of the Humanity and currently the Galapagos Islands have become a living laboratory of exotic species in danger of extinction that do not exist anywhere else in the world. Therefore, the preservation of its flora and fauna, as well as, its fragile ecosystem, is today one of the main priorities for Ecuador Volunteer within the Galapagos Islands.
